XIAO FENG AND SONG REN

Xiao Feng and Song Ren is a husband and wife team who contributed a great deal to art movement and education in China. Their influences include teaching, exhibiting and writings, which greatly educated the next generation of artists.

Xiao Feng started his artistic career when he joined literary and artistic organization during the Chinese revolution in 1943. He later studied at Fine Arts Academy of East China in Hangzhou. In 1954, he went to study aboard in the

Soviet Union, majoring in oil painting at the Lebin Academy of Fine Art. In his six year in Russia, he graduated with the Title of Artist and gained considerable knowledge of the art movement going on in Russia at the time, the socialist realism.Which he brought back to China upon his return in 1960. He first began

teaching oil painting at China National Academy of Art. Upon his transfer to Shanghai in 1973, he devoted himself to full time artist. He has since return to China National Academy of Art. He has served as President and as Chairman of the Chinese Painting Department at China National Academy of Art. For the past half-century, His works were exhibited in numerous occasions, domestically as well as internationally. He has won numerous prizes such as the French Literary and Art Medal of Excellent Contribution. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of China National Artists' Council, Chairman of Zhejiang Province Artists' Council, Permanent member of Union of Chinese Artist and Art Advisor of eChinaArt.com.
