Introduction
"I
like to sing new tune" C.C. Wang
proclaimed. At the age 93, Mr. Wang has
entered another transformation of his
work. The "late period" as some
have called, C. C. Wang is continuing
to explore conceptual areas where no other
Chinese artists have even dreamed. His
work is not only setting himself apart
from Chinese artists of his time, but
also from the Western artists who have
used calligraphy in their work. His latest
works have not only incorporated a great
deal of western influence, but a fusion
of calligraphy and abstract concepts which
gives birth to new explorations and directions,
therefore, his style has changed over
the years. Even with his modern concepts,
Wang continues to honor the Chinese art
traditional of understanding the bond
between the artist and nature. Wang have
truly established himself as a bridge
between east and west, but his is also
blurring the line of distinction between
Eastern and Western arts and into a new
horizon.
