Ty
Lim - Woodside, New York

I graduated from Hunter
College with a degree in Anthropology and Environmental Studies.
I was trained in visual and graphic arts during High School. I
joined eChinaArt.com workshop program where I was able to improve
my Chinese painting and calligraphy skills. Once I started doing
calligraphy and painting in a Chinese style, I knew what I had
been missing out on. When painting landscapes, my hand becomes
an antenna of emotions and feelings. Not only do I imbue what
I paint with my inner thoughts, but the painting, even to a higher
degree, sends a message back to me. Eastern styles have helped
me to focus on my painterly technique while letting me understand
colors in a another perspective. My interests are in mixing traditional
techniques with modern themes. I find this creates a contrast
of cultures and also a departure from what has already been done.
I will no doubt have much more to learn about Eastern Painting
techniques and much more to apprciate from it.
