My grandfather's study was always inundated with ink blocks, brushes and calligraphy pieces in varied states of completion. I think that childhood memory had a lot to do with my resolution to take this Intro to Chinese Art & Calligraphy course with Gan. Before this class, my art background consisted of fervent Pictionary competitions and doodling stick figures during long meetings. That he was able to wrest respectable artwork out of me attests to Gan's patience, aptitude and ability.
