.....The China Academy of Art is located in the West Lake scenic area on the brink of downtown Hangzhou. It is only 50 meters away from the West Lake with all the amenities the West Lake and downtown have to offer. The campus enjoys a great environment, convenient location with post offices, banks, stores, markets and hospitals in its vicinity. The International College has a special housing area for non-resident international students with public washing machines, kitchenettes, activity areas and dining halls. The Academy is also located on a street famous for its night life. The Nanshan Road comes to life when night falls with hundreds of bar-goes forming a scene that is characteristic of this unique area in Hangzhou. The West Lake is one of the top ten scenic spots in China and attracts millions of tourists each year. Leisure and entertainment facilities are everywhere around the lake with cafes, bars, restaurants, bookstores, art museums and galleries.

Accommodations and Housing Facilities

.....There are dorms of international students at the Nanshan campus as well as in the Xiangshan campus. Accommodations fees are to be paid in full once every semester. Refunds will not be issued for any reason other than withdrawing from the programs. Refunds can be made up to 70% of the remaining rent for students withdrawn from the programs. In principle, all non-resident students are required to stay in the overseas student housing suites in their first year of study. Thereafter, students can apply to the International College to stay in any accommodations outside the Academy approved by the Public Security Bureau.

Meals

.cc....International Students can dine in inexpensive cafeterias shared with regular Chinese students, or they can enjoy an abundance of different cuisine in the neighborhood of the China Academy of Art campus.

   
   

Medical Insurance and Safety

All non-resident students should purchase health and accident insurance that covers the China area from their home country/area.

Hangzhou is one of the safest cities in China. The Academy campus and the overseas student housing area have security guards and security monitoring systems working 24/7 to guarantee the safety of all non-resident students. Yet due to the differences in social systems and traffic patterns, overseas students should exercise extreme caution to prevent accidents.

   
   

New West Lake Paradise

New West Lake Paradise is located off Nanshan Road beside the West Lake and just across from the China Academy of Art, combining a picturesque setting, garden surroundings, fine food, tranquillity and style. Well known chains include Starbucks, Hagendaass, Tea and Wine Chapter and Butterfly Restaurant..

Pulio Cafe

The café, a French style Patisserie, is located just across from the China Academy of Art’s Nanshan Road Campus. Selling all kinds of cakes and breads, coffee, fruit juices and other beverages, Pulio is a relaxing place to meet with friends.

     

Mingtown International Youth Hostel

A branch of Mingtown International Youth Hostel is situated just across from the China Academy of Art’s Nanshan Road Campus. The hostel offers clean, comfortable rooms to suite young people on tight budgets or just anyone who like to interact.

Carrefour Supermarket

There is a Carrefour supermarket located in Chongjin Square, about half mile from the Nanshan Road Campus. It is a regular choice for students, who go there to stock up on daily necessities or buy convenient hot or cold food and drinks.

 
Hangzhou and the West Lake

Hangzhou is famous for its scenic beauty, and it is only one hour from Shanghai by the high-speed train. Major cities including Beijing , Xi'an , Guilin , Kunming and Hong Kong are all within easy reach by train or airplane. As a modern city, it is equipped with advanced public facilities, including convenient bus, train and airline systems, modern shopping centers and excellent medical services.

Hangzhou enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate, with four distinct seasons of special beauty. The average annual temperature is 16. 2℃, with 28.6℃ in summer and 3.8℃ in winter. The frost-free period lasts 230-260 days.
